Leading Kolping Hotel for 25 years

Our hotel’s owners and areal managers gathered at Alsópáhok at the end of November for a special occasion.

They celebrated Csaba Baldauf, the hotel director, who has been working at and for the hotel for 25 years. His professional career is highlighted, besides the hotel’s success, by a range of awards: Pro Turismo, Hotel of the Year, Order of the Hungarian Knight's Cross, he has been selected to be among the 50 most influential people in tourism… He always perceived personal awards as a success for the team, but the team was not left without recognition either. With his leadership, we managed to gain the profession’s recognition two years in a row, when Kolping Hotel was selected Hotel of the Year in the 4 star countryside category. Csaba Baldauf has been the vice-president of the Alliance of Hungarian Hotels and Restaurants since November 2018.

Gebhard Kaiser, the president of Kolping Hotel’s supervisory board, and János Szabó, the CEO of the Hungarian Kolping Holiday Foundation also joined in greeting the director. When the hotel opened back in 1996, a team of just 30 people started on the completely unknown journey. We were the first ones in the country, who ventured to create a real family holiday base. The hotel has been developing continuously ever since, and by today the director oversees the coordinated work of 160 people. Only one thing is the same: the family-friendly attitude. Every upgrade is motivated by the same principle: we want families to look at Kolping Hotel, as their second home.

During the speeches greeting the jubilee director, pictures from the last 25 years have been flashing in the background. Csaba Baldauf jestingly remarked that by looking at the pictures, it seems that the hotel director’s life is nothing but toasting and cutting ribbons. In reality, besides his daily tasks, he is practically always overseeing or preparing some kind of construction. Maybe it’s just that less photos are taken of the everyday hustle and bustle. Kolping Hotel is continuously developed, so its momentum remains unbroken even after 25 years.
