Double celebrations in Hotel Kolping

Double celebrations in Hotel Kolping

19. 05. 2020.

We held a press conference for two important reasons. We introduced our newest innovations, and laid the foundation of our next development, Bobo Fun Park.

At the press conference, Csaba Baldauf, the manager of Hotel Kolping welcomed the guests, and introduced the recently finished and recently started developments. In his speech, he quoted Adolph Kolping, whom the hotel was named after: „As long as God gives us strength, let us be brave and determined, because the future is for God and for the brave.”

He immediately elaborated on our reasons for bravery. He highlighted the fantastic employees, who still did their very best during the past 2 months and got plenty done behind the locked doors of the hotel. He praised the hotel’s owners for planning ahead and having a reserve set aside for developments. Beside all of them, we need partners and supporters, of which he pointed out the support of the Hungarian Government and the Hungarian Tourism Agency, who trusted us to make a dream we’ve had for three years come true in the usual Kolping quality.

In his speech, Dr. Zoltán Guller, ministry commissioner, the CEO of the Hungarian Tourism Agency highlighted that Hotel Kolping is a great example of how developments are not stalled by the pandemic. Currently over 100 tourist attractions are under development in the country. The government intends not to stop or withdraw anything, but to switch to higher gear when deciding about developments. Zoltán Guller announced it here in Alsópáhok, that the Hungarian Government will provide another 150 billion HUF for touristic developments.

Dr. Rózsa Sifter, the Government Representative of Zala county knows the history of the hotel well and pointed out how the invested labor produces real accomplishments here. The Representative is proud of Zala county for being the home of the first family friendly hotel in Hungary, thanks to Hotel Kolping.

Gebhard Kaiser, honorary councilor of Germany’s Oberallgäu region, the president of the supervisory board of Kolping Hotel Kft. greeted the guests in a video message. He assured everyone of the commitment of the owners towards the developments and expressed his hope to greet everyone in person in 2021, the year of the hotel’s 25th anniversary, at the opening ceremony of Bobo Fun Park.

Results of the soon finished development project:

  • The giant slide in the middle of the park, and a handicap accessible elevator are finished.
  • The outdoor pools have been retiled.
  • The inner and outer renovation of the reception building is finished, along with many groundbreaking innovations: e.g. kids’ entrance, separate kids’ check-in desk, interactive game-wall, etc.
  • A fountain and a balance playground were built in the reception area.
  • The interior renovation of the rooms and suites of two apartment buildings was carried out.
  • New garden lights and outdoor furniture were placed in the park.

The completion of the project cost 880.300.000 HUF, of which the amount of the own contribution was 561.314.062 HUF. The amount of subsidy: 318.985.938 HUF.

Thanks to the developments, the hotel now conforms to the 4-star superior standard. Based on the Reviewer Committee’s on-site qualification, the hotel is entitled to use the trademark as of May 2020.

Aside from the current developments, Hotel Kolping wants to surprise its guests with a significant investment in 2021, the details of which we revealed to members of the press and to other guests.

The budget of the project is 2 088 850 000 HUF, the amount of subsidy is 950 000 000 HUF. The estimated date of completion is 30.06.2021

As a summary Csaba Baldauf called the project a renewable element, which fills a gap for the community and for the tourist attractions of the region. The foundation of Bobo Fun Park was laid down at the event.

The foundation was laid by:

  • Csaba Baldauf, CEO of Kolping Hotel Kft. and Bobo Fun Park Kft.
  • János Szabó, president of the Hungarian Kolping Family Holiday Fund
  • Dr. Zoltán Guller, ministry commissioner, the CEO of the Hungarian Tourism Agency
  • Dr. Rózsa Sifter, Government representative
  • Sándor Czigány, Mayor of Alsópáhok and Gábor Papp, Mayor of Hévíz
  • Representing the Zala County General Assembly, Vice President Ferenc Ruzsics
  • And the hotel’s mascot, Bobo himself.

We will continue with enhanced safety measures. Along with the many novelties, the hotel prepares for the reopening with an increased number of outdoor activities, and an all-encompassing safety protocol. Opening day: May 29!

“Variety, quality, presentation...just perfect. There were a lot of differrent traditional Magyar (Hungarian) dishes which are very delicious and I am not Hungarian. My wife on the other hand is, and she kept on saying "...this tastes exactly how my mum used to make it". This means a lot, so well done to the chef for "looking after tummies" ;)”
